Recently, I entered the 13th International Biennial International Miniature Print Competition, organised by the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP). CCP was the venue for my two-week residency in the summer of 2019.
This week, I heard that the judges had awarded my work in first place! It’s the first competition win for my printmaking, and I’m especially pleased that it came from CCP which, through the residency, has done so much for the development of my practice.
The main stipulation for the competition was that the print size had to be limited to a maximum of four square inches (25.8 square centimetres). My winning print is entitled Wish I, a collagraph to which metallic paper was fused through chine collé. Finally, metallic thread was sewn into the paper, post-print.
For those of you who may live in or close to Connecticut, please visit the exhibition, as there will be around 150 prints on show. The 2019 show was in situ during my residency, and from what I saw there, I can guarantee that the work will also be excellent this year.
