This was one of a batch of 15 cm x 15 cm plates made on Birch plywood, using various materials including acrylic gels and carborundum powder. For this plate, I used floor tile adhesive, smearing it around with plastic tools. That’s part of the drying process. The adhesive naturally formed itself into peaks and troughs and little holes appeared in the surface, producing very interesting marks through the ink and indentations in the printing paper. For this particular print I managed to achieve an interesting blend of traditional etching in with gold, which is notoriously difficult to print.
