The Five, a group of artists based in different English locations, held a second group exhibition at Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable, Kent, in the summer of 2025. Much larger than the venue of our first show in Portsmouth three years earlier, we had the opportunity to show more works and at a larger scale. As in our previous show, we decided to use the space to position complementary works by the five artists where they worked best, rather than dedicating a particular space to one artist. The idea was to give visitors a wide variety of works using different materials, techniques and approaches.
This was another exhibition in which none of my works were presented inside a glass frame. The Portsmouth exhibition, entitled ‘In And Out Of The Frame’ was the start of this process, and it came to its fruition in the Whitstable show.
