The image ‘Rust’ emerged from a series of 10 x 10 cm plates that I made using various acrylic gels and pastes at this time I was also trying to get the notoriously difficult metallic inks to work with traditional colours. I initially deemed rust as a failure, because the ink bled out on two sides. However, when fearing the print a few hours later I liked the ‘mistake’ as it gave the image character and differentiated it from so-called ‘perfect’ prints.
