Layers II was printed from one of a series of plates made using plastic size fabric edging material. The hemming tape shreds around the edges when torn or cut, resulting in interesting marks and textures in the print. Layers were literally built up one on top of another. Once dried and varnished, the plate was inked in various colours, including gold, and printed on damp, receptive Somerset paper.
