Infusion was printed from one of a series of plates that started life as something else. Originally, this plate did not print well and I was thinking of putting it in the bin. Instead, I followed the advice of Emily Harvey, the Curious Printmaker, and decided to give the plate a second life. The plate contained various acrylic gels and so I used an electric paint stripper gun to burn the surface of the plate, distorting and altering those gels into new forms. The result was a completely new plate with interesting new textures. Once the plate was sanded down and revarnished, it was ready to print, resulting in the red and blue prints you can see here. Infusion: Red To Blue (the blue coloured print) was subsequently framed and displayed in my exhibition ’10’ at the Rickyard Gallery, Wickenby in late 2025.
