    New ideas 2026

This year, I”ll be working on developing some work that combines part-printings, a variety of papers, including Japanese washi and Hosho papers and various collage techniques. I would like them to be larger in scale, which might be achieved joint smaller plates and/or prints together.

It’s likely that I will pre-cut shapes in printing paper, such as rings, part-rings and cut strips. Then, I might print on part or all of the surfaces of these pieces using old, existing plates. I recently bought a pack of large-sized Japanese papers – some of them highly textured and shot through with interesting natural materials. Once printed and dried, I’m planning to pour acrylic inks in some areas and collage the pieces onto a sheet of Somerset or other highly-textured paper, sewing them into position.

There’s a plan in there somewhere. As always, I just need to experiment with the materials, make some test pieces/printings and see what develops. Assuming that happens, I’ll post again on this later this year.
