    Exciting work at 20-21

Earlier this week, I was fortunate to see the work of Jason Wilsher-Mills at Scunthorpe’s 20-21 Visual Arts Centre.

The work, encompassing 3D printed figures, interactive sculpture, plus floor and wall murals, stretched around the main walkway and into the main exhibition space at the back of the building.

Works in his show ‘Unexpected Engagement’ are a direct response to his experiences as a disabled artist, and the challenges this represents.

The art was created whilst undertaking a Square Peg residency at Artlink in Hull. Workshops revealed the experiences of a wide range of disabled people, which in turn influenced his own work for the show. In it, you can see 3D printed characters such as the ‘East Hull Elvis’ and ‘The X-Factor Princess’.

There’s still time to see this work, as it runs until 8 September.
