‘Stage One: Gold’ is one of a recent series of framed printing plates. The exhibiting of these plates as a little bit like going back to the future. This is because many years ago I was advised to frame and display printing plates alongside framed prints because of the innate beauty of the ink on board. There is also something rather final about showing printing plates because one is bringing the printing process to a complete stop, because the plate, as the means of production, can no longer be used to create further prints. In recent exhibitions, I have featured a number of these plates.
