Print Stories: Darker Forms 2
Really excited to be heading back to The Ropewalk today! It’ll be good to meet up with Tim Needham and the others in the Print Room group again, as I haven’t printed there since November.
From the last plate making session, I seem to have loads of plates to print. This gives me a problem – which ones to try today, and which to leave out? As usual, I’ll make it up as I go along and make a choice when I get there. I have a mix of plates: some made with carborundum and poured varnishes, whilst others use crackle paste (below, top row/centre). The three plates on that top row could form a mini-series, as they all use hole-punched circles in the board surface. It’ll be interesting to see what happens to the ink in those recessed areas.

As you can see (above and below), some of the plates needed some repair. This was because the poured varnish trickled into unwanted areas of the plate board as it bowed and distorted slightly. Perhaps I should think about using thicker, more stable baseboards in the future. All part of the fun though!
