{"id":79289,"date":"2019-10-16T17:13:51","date_gmt":"2019-10-16T17:13:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/?p=79289"},"modified":"2026-04-16T06:59:35","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T06:59:35","slug":"large-scale-monoprints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/?p=79289","title":{"rendered":"Large Scale Monoprints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in June\/July last year, just before my trip to the U.S., I had started begun experimenting with small-scale monoprints, using my little XCut XPress print press at home.<\/p>\n<p>Those results were so encouraging that, on my return to the UK, I wanted to try some larger prints using brayers on acrylic sheet at around A1 size. As usual, I didn\u2019t really plan how I would go about this \u2013 I just gathered a few brayers of different widths and degrees of hard or soft rubber and got to work. I\u2019m employing that method again here, and intending to find a way of collaging these pieces together post-print to create some unique images that could be displayed within or outside the traditional picture frame. Beacuse the paper pieces only covered a portion of the brayer marks, the printed pieces have a unique, randomised quality which extend right to the edges.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/LSM_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-79309\" src=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/LSM_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"992\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/LSM_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-79308\" src=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/LSM_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"992\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of the pieces remind me of fragments unearthed or discovered at archaeological digs.
