{"id":74726,"date":"2019-03-02T18:08:35","date_gmt":"2019-03-02T18:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/?p=74726"},"modified":"2026-04-16T07:01:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T07:01:57","slug":"journeys-travelling-show-london-portsmouth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/?p=74726","title":{"rendered":"Journeys: travelling show in London and Portsmouth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>My print &#8216;A Journey Ends In Orange&#8217; will be part of &#8216;Journeys&#8217;, the latest Printmakers Council exhibition due to tour in London and Portsmouth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This members&#8217; exhibition will open at the London Print Studio in West London and will continue its journey to the Jack House Gallery in Portsmouth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The subject \u2018Journeys\u2019 could be interpreted in many ways, and could embrace any of the following; a personal artistic journey, an actual physical journey travelled and recorded, the transportation vehicle of a particular journey &#8211; such as a particular vessel, aircraft or automobile, or trip on horseback or other animal. It could also be an individual or an emotional journey experienced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I interpreted the theme as a process of transformation from one state to another. It also reflects the gradual drift in my printmaking from monotone to colour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/sinclair_ashman_a_journey_ends_in_orange_2_small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-74725 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/sinclair_ashman_a_journey_ends_in_orange_2_small-722x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"722\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_1fcf.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-74730\" src=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/fullsizeoutput_1fcf-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Birch plywood plate pieces, covered with with aluminium foil tape<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I cut the basic plate pieces on a laser cutter, then covered them in aluminium foil tape. The tape comes in 8cm or 10cm wide rolls, and just need to be pressed into the contours. It&#8217;s then ready to be inked and printed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/slswRQilQf2EA1ZGr7B3iQ.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-74731\" src=\"http:\/\/sinclairashman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/slswRQilQf2EA1ZGr7B3iQ-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Print detail<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Journeys show will begin at London Print Studio in west London, before moving on to The Jack House Gallery in Portsmouth.
