This piece has never been framed or shown in an exhibition, but is nevertheless an interesting example of my experiments. The printed strips of paper were, in effect, test prints, to check the tones available from a particular set of printing plates, made by impressing various materials into aluminium full tape or by burying them beneath the tape, such as the examples shown. Laying the test strips on top of each other at various angles produced interesting juxtapositions.
