Motion I came out of a period of experimentation with fabrics, particularly those stretchy materials that feature fairly woven textures, such as dishcloths and bandages. In this case, bandages were pulled apart, before being stuck down onto mount board. In my mind, I think I had always imagined the plate and print to be horizontal in format and looking like a crocodile with its mouth open. However, as soon as I had printed the first one and showed it to someone, they immediately saw it as an upright, walking figure, which it has been ever since.
